This bike featured in the following video, from Michigan State University, has been in development for over 3 years. The objective of the design is to create a tool for mobility while simultaneously helping work a patient's arms and legs. The overall design of the cycle will provide the next step for inspiring patients to get healthy.
This year, the team of 4 Mech E. students, 2 faculty advisers and a physical therapy expert took a closer look at the steering design in order to build a stable push pull recumbent for patients at the MidMichigan Medical Center. The project was sponsored by the Medical Center and General Motors.
I'll get some more details on this soon. I could extend some love to MSU Engineering.

Sounds like a great idea. Are they running electric power? Hoping to hear more about this.
ReplyDeleteForgive me, but isn't it kind of cynical that GM sponsors a bicycle that is not used for transportation?
