Keeping idols is fine,...Zach,

Thats understandable. Keeping idols is fine, but you've got to technically extract the bicycle from the "idol" and really view the bike for what its worth.

I think TREK, Cannondale and many other bicycle companies are on the cutting edge of technology. They are surely on their way to some serious ISO standards in quality.

Personally, I view TREK as a winning bike rather than something that Lance just rode. I'll make references to Contador, Hincapie, Cunego... they all ride TREK.

I tell some of my friends, distinguishing a bike for its features is a really tough job these days. There is an art to it, akin to wine tasting or trying different cheese... lolRon Georgehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/18394865788996482667noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-13887692.post-57070164879164426282008-01-02T12:08:00.000-05:002008-01-02T12:08:00.000-05:00The only thing with that is that I've told people ...The only thing with that is that I've told people "I'm a Trek guy, I will not buy any other bikes (except for the Fuji Track Pro when I take up Track this year) unless I'm on a team that is sponsored by a different bike manufacturer" and then they immediately respond with "why, because of Lance Armstrong, because of the Tour de France?" I just like Trek a lot, but people automatically associate Trek with Lance Armstrong, Discovery Channel team or being the bike of 8 time Tour de France champs in the last 9 years and think that people will only ride Trek because of Lance Armstrong. Don't get me wrong, Lance Armstrong did certainly help Trek in big ways and he is my biggest idol, I just really like the quality of Trek bikes more than others and when I do my research I'm usually convinced of Trek having better quality for its prices.Zachhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03369172064101957130noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-13887692.post-81798647001358501042008-01-02T06:43:00.000-05:002008-01-02T06:43:00.000-05:00Zach - Don't reconsider so soon. Yellow pedals complement the PT ;) (trying to be Euro there?) The FIZIK saddle is quite plush (I would rate it a 10/10) for long rides. I guess you could get whatever you wanted as long as you have the $$ to spend for it. Thanks for the info.Ron Georgehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/18394865788996482667noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-13887692.post-14697808538882931312008-01-01T17:19:00.000-05:002008-01-01T17:19:00.000-05:00I'm riding a six-13 that was custom made for Scott...I'm riding a six-13 that was custom made for Scott Moninger (he used to ride for HealthNet) who wanted a "lighter" version of the stock frame. They used some higher grade carbon and only one coat of paint. Saved something like 100g or so. It's a great riding bike and obviously a pretty rare one-off from cannondale.
