I missed the twig in the road and it whipped up and snapped off the Campy Record derailleur. The hanger was not even bent amazingly. A few years later the frame cracked at the downtube shifters and the bottom bracket. Even though Merlin had been sold the new owners of the company replaced the frame. Please keep me posted, we'll do our best to help you --if a.) you don't get things sorted with the folks you sent your Kestrel to and/or b.) if you can provide us with the original receipt of purchase. It is true that we did not carry over warranty from pre-2008 models when we bought the brand over here at ASI (Advanced Sports Inc.), but we are a relatively easy going group of bike lovers and will always do our best to help. And we do have a crash replacement policy that would support you in replacing your bike a reasonable price. Once I recall was years ago, when I was in Colorado Springs at the OTC. The coaches had decided we should do some interval training on Marksheffle road. I remember that this was a very windy day, hard core cross-winds. So I'm riding along when suddenly I feel something hit my bike. Turns out a big clump of sagebrush had been blown across the road and lodged itself into my Campy Super Record rear deraileur, bending the inner paralellogram arm plus the rear hanger. I could still ride, but only as a single speed.Unknownhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13411674116610588683noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-13887692.post-30994134462908658322009-02-06T10:01:00.000-05:002009-02-06T10:01:00.000-05:00Badger : Racing career? I'd always used Campagnolo throughout my racing and post racing career because it was simply the best. In 2002, both rear derailleurs catastrophically broke for no apparent reason, the second bending the derailleur hanger badly. Fortunately, the bike was a steel Salsa frame that was made in Petaluma, CA., and was able to be straightened. I now ride Dura Ace exclusively.Jimhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11938379025774754317noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-13887692.post-51705522219904716992009-02-06T09:02:00.000-05:002009-02-06T09:02:00.000-05:00Anon : Anti-climax could have been another word.
