It explicitly states that he was most likely contaminated by a supplement he took. Btw, supplements are used by ALL athletes and do NOT constitute doping. They can range from vitamins, to energy drinks, to those protein/energy bars anyone can buy at stores everywhere nowadays.
Furthermore, the miniscule amount of clembuterol found cannot (this is scientifically proven) mask any other doping substances, nor improve performance. 16 (?) Mexican footballers (soccer players) were found to have a much greater amount of clem in their systems, yet they weren't even suspended or had to face a court hearing. Why? Because football's governing body FIFA intervened.
The problem here is two-fold:
1. The court decision in Contador's case clearly states that there is no evidence of doping, yet Contador was suspended. Clembuterol is a banned substance, yet such a miniscule amount is proven to have no benefits to enhancing performance. Remember, the amount is 0.000000 whatever... picograms. Why was Contador suspended when there is no evidence of doping? And why are limits established regarding many other substances, yet regarding clembuterol a limit has not been established?
2. Why have other cases of clembuterol not been addressed in similar fashion? i.e. Athletes in other sports who have tested positive, with much higher levels, been treated as was Contador?

Cycling may have its cases of doping, but believe me... other sports are not much "cleaner". Since they have a higher "appeal" than cycling & alot of backing ($), alot is hidden that we do not know of.Tonionoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-13887692.post-6420658017961075242011-05-24T10:07:38.100-04:002011-05-24T10:07:38.100-04:00good!!good!!Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-13887692.post-38299071483688373472010-10-03T08:50:25.061-04:002010-10-03T08:50:25.061-04:00can now add drug cheat to his list of accomplishme...can now add drug cheat to his list of accomplishmentsAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-13887692.post-89252728898512183832010-07-22T08:38:12.847-04:002010-07-22T08:38:12.847-04:00CBH,

Armstrong es un tipo con suerte, ni tuvo buenos rivales, el de más categoría Zulle y Ullrich por razones bien conocidas de uno y otro nunca fueron demasiado peligrosos. As an author, I do not worship him or engage in blind, irrational, ardent, "saddle sniffing" behavior that undoubtedly play a large role in skewing debates centered on Lance Armstrong and his fraudulent career, especially the dirty doping scene of 1999 where he took EPO and dragged others to juice up as well.

There are hardly 2-3 articles I have written about Contador and only this one written from a point of view of shedding more light on his background, especially considering the fact that he's not an English speaking rider.

If you want to talk about cancer and judging a rider from cancer contributions, what will you say if Contador comes out in a few years with a charitable foundation for people with brain aneurysms?

As for the comment on "how unprofessional" it was to express himself on Lance Armstrong, please keep it mind that the context of the public statement. Context being an unfriendly personal situation where Bruyneel and Armstrong were trying to selfishly push team interests towards Armstrong's agendas and divert resources away from Contador's performance. Team equipment and team cars were not aptly provided to Contador at crucial times during the Tour de France, according to Contador's admission in press conferences. What kind of a manager is Bruyneel anyway, that he'll forget he has to manage a team and its internal conflicts and drool on the fame and money he gets from supporting an aging Lance Armstrong who jumped late onto the Astana team? And after all this, who is Armstrong to say that Contador's behavior is not team-ship? How unprofessional is hypocrisy and double-talk? I'm sure you'll have no comment there. The fact is, if you were in Contador's shoes, you'd probably be as aggravated as him. The fact is, Armstrong and Bruyneel were engineering a conflict within the Astana team to try and break Contador's mental attitude. How do I have proof? Armstrong himself admitted that it was deliberate last month. Those are the foolish words of admission from a 7 time TDF winner who has no clue on how to be a real champion - that of encouraging and supporting younger teammates who are better than you.Unknownhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12256394060474969622noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-13887692.post-26976934862602438172009-12-27T00:02:12.441-05:002009-12-27T00:02:12.441-05:00Nice to see all the Lance Armstrong haters out the...Nice to see all the Lance Armstrong haters out there.
Reading all the posts, one can't help but think that poor little "El Pistollero" is the innocent party in the rocky relations with LA.
